There are a lot of people who have had some problems with their credit score in the past but not enough to cause any real concern. Then there are those who because of circumstances out of their control have had to file for personal bankruptcy. No one wants to file for bankruptcy but sometimes you may have no choice. There are a few tips that you can use to help you recover from personal bankruptcy.
Tip 1: Find a lawyer that can help you improve your credit score. A lot of people never do this but you will find that it will be a lot easier and will help you tremendously. You don’t have to do this if you really don’t want to you can instead try and rebuild your credit score through hard work and dedication. However, using a lawyer to help you can make things so much easier.
Tip 2: You need to make all of your payments on time. This is very important after you have filed for personal bankruptcy. By making your payments on time you will be improving your credit score. The bankruptcy will be on your credit report for the next 7 to 10 years but that doesn’t mean that you should let your credit get worse than it already is. So be diligent about making those payments on time and don’t ever miss one. You should probably try and make more than the minimum payment and pay before the due date. This will work in a positive way on your credit score.
Tip 3: You want to make sure that you keep the amount of your debt as low as you possibly can. You want to have as much room as you can in your debt to credit ratio. This way when a creditor looks at your report they will be able to see that even though you have a personal bankruptcy on there, you are now being more responsible with your credit.
Tip 4: You may want to close all of the accounts that you had open when you filed for bankruptcy but you don’t want to do this. This can negatively impact your credit score because your available credit limit will be impacted. This will affect your credit score now. So you want to keep your old lines of credit open instead of closing them. This may sound crazy but it is the truth.
Tip 5: Keep track of your credit score on a monthly basis. You want to make sure that you see how much improvement that you have made each month. This will help you keep going when you feel like it is useless to even try. The more you can improve your score the better things will look to you.
There is no reason why you will not be able to get credit for anything ever again. There is also no reason that you can’t move forward after filing for personal bankruptcy and rebuild your credit score. You want to think about everything that you need to do to improve your current credit score and then do it. You will not be able to get rid of the personal bankruptcy that is on your credit report. However, you also don’t want to let this stop you from doing everything that you can to make things better for your future. Everyone can bounce back from a bankruptcy if you try your hardest and do whatever it takes to make it happen. You will eventually be able to recover from this hard time in your life just don’t give up no matter what.
Summary: Personal bankruptcy is something that no one wants to go through. However, if you do have to go through it, it will not be the end of the world. There are some steps that you can take to recover from this. Find out what they are and then do whatever it takes to make it happen.
